During their visit, the delegation from Wuhan University engaged in deep academic discussions with key faculty members of LUSEM's Department of Business Law. Those present included Prof. Jörgen Hettne, the head of the department, along with Prof. Boel Flodgren, Prof. Andreas Inghammar, Prof. Niklas Arvidsson, Dr. Meng Zhang, Dr. Lovisa Halje, and Mr. Jakob Hober.
Dr. Hu Bin introduced Wuhan University and its Research Institute of Environmental Law, outlining its developmental milestones and ongoing international collaborations. Similarly, Prof. Jörgen Hettne provided an overview of Lund University, LUSEM (Lund University School of Economics and Management) and the Department of Business Law, specifically highlighting their research initiatives and educational development programs.
Focus on green and low-carbon development
One of the highlights of the meeting was the Wuhan University delegation's presentation on Green and Low Carbon Development in China. This provided valuable insights into China’s current strategies and innovations aimed at achieving sustainability and combating climate change.
Future collaborations
Both parties expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in academic research, talent cultivation, and project applications concerning trade and sustainability law and policy towards climate neutrality. An initial agreement was also reached on jointly organizing a ‘Sino-Nordic Colloquium on Global Governance of Sustainable Development in a Polarized World’, slated for next spring at Wuhan University.
“Facing the urgent call for global climate neutrality, our environmental lawyers and business lawyers should work hands in hands, no matter where they are from and what subjects they were focusing on. This meeting marks an exciting chapter in the academic relationship between our institute and the Department of Business Law from Lund University,” said the Wuhan delegation.
